States Consider Awarding Lottery Winners Something Else: Anonymity

Everyone thinks at some point in their life how it would changed if they won something like the lottery. Sure you would win a lot of money, but did you ever stop and think about where your name would be from that point on?
After winning the lottery the winners name goes everywhere, it shows up on newspapers, websites, social media sites, and many other places. Lately in North Carolina the state has considered keeping names private so that the winners do not have to deal with so much publicity after being lucky enough to win $40 million dollars or more.
However an argument against making the names anonymous was made that if the names are not publicly displayed then the winners could begin to feel less real. Meaning that people could lose faith in the integrity of the game and feel like winning the game is less possible. This is not what the Lottery Officials want because they want the game to stay popular.
Even though the Lottery Officials still do not want the game to have Anonymity. Most people who end up winning the lottery have to change their phone numbers as well as stop using social media. To me this does not seem very fair but it is hard to make a balance between anonymity and public display because the game needs to seem like it has real people who are winning but it does cause them to be rushed into a spotlight that they might not feel comfortable taking.
